Golden Latte

Do you want to try a different type of latte full of antioxidant properties? This is based on “Golden Milk”, a traditional Indian drink that people make with turmeric, which gives that intense yellow or golden color.

 

I am personally a turmeric lover, and it is part of my daily diet. I add it practically to most of my dishes as I noted that not only has outstanding health properties but it helps to enhance flavor. Ground turmeric’s active ingredient is called curcumin; that’s where all benefits lie. Turmeric and ginger are considered superfoods because of their amazing anti-inflammatory properties. This latte also has antioxidant properties, helps to lower blood sugar levels, boosts the immune system, aids digestions and may have even anti-cancer properties. When you add the almond butter and raw almonds, you are adding extra benefits like potassium, calcium, manganese, iron and vitamin E.

 

Very important that you add the black pepper. Even a dash of it will be beneficial as the pepper has an alkaloid called piperine that enhances up to 2,000% absorption of curcumin into the body.

Instructions:

  1. Combine the milk, honey, almond butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and any optional spices in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium until warmed, whisking briskly so that the almond butter does not stick to the bottom and the spices incorporate. Do not let boil. Pour into a mug, garnish with almonds and enjoy!
